Maj. Gen. W. R. Johnson
Detachment History
Our detachment was formed in April 2008 by a small group of Marine veterans who wanted to bring together other Marine veterans and Navy Fleet Marine Force Corpsman and Chaplain veterans for camaraderie and to carry on the legacy of the United States Marine Corps under the sponsorship of the Marine Corps League. It was chartered on 7 August 2008 as Woodstock Detachment #1311. The charter was presented to the detachment on 22 September 2008 by Michael P. Clark, Department of Georgia Commandant, Marine Corps League. The formal installation ceremony was conducted at the Woodstock Community Center and attended by family members, friends of the Corps and various Woodstock City and State of Georgia officials.
